Easy Towing With Chevy Silverado Rentals

2019 Chevy Silverado

Chevrolet has been one of the premier car and truck manufacturers in the world, catering to the needs of every industry. Among their lineup of vehicles is the Chevy Silverado. This vehicle has been at the forefront of providing convenience in towing for fleets across several industries in the country. While developing the all-new 2019 model of this classic, the development team at Chevy talked with many fleet managers about what they need from the 2019 model of the Chevy Silverado. While they addressed many concerns, one of the primary and common themes that they discussed was the ability to tow easier with the new vehicle. Fleet owners, operators, and managers agreed they wanted it to be easier to hookup a trailer, get good visibility while towing the trailers, and to have a better connection between the trailer and the car.

This is why the new model of the Silverado is going to address their concerns and offer plenty of features specifically making the experience of towing easier. This will be done through the use of advanced driver assistance technology that will make it easier to hookup trailers, the visibility will be better and the connectivity between trailer and truck will be improved.

Here is a better look at the options being offered by the new 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500.

New and Improved Trailer Connection System

The advanced diver assistance technology being integrated by Chevrolet in the new model has been tailor made to allow a seamless trailering process. Chevrolet’s proprietary Advanced Trailering System consists of a trailer control and diagnostics interface which will come preinstalled in the vehicle. It will allow the driver to remove all aspects of guesswork while trying to make the connection between the truck and trailer.

Features Offered By Chevrolet’s Advanced Trailer System
  • Hitch View Guidance: There is a rear camera installed which has dynamic guiding lines for the truck as a standard but the Advanced Trailer System developed by Chevrolet offers a Hitch View mode for the trailer as well. The Hitch view will allow the driver to zoom in on the hitch so they can maneuver the truck with pinpoint accuracy. No more need for guesswork when it comes to trying to perfectly hookup the trailer to the truck. You can even access the system’s Hitch View camera in order to check the connection even while the car is in motion.
  • Electric Parking Braking Assist: Another amazing feature offered by the new Chevy Silverado’s Advanced Trailer System is the auto electric parking brake assist. This automatic brake will engage if there is ever a misalignment of the hitch, making the aspect of towing the trailer more secure. The lighting system for the hitch area allows you to make the perfect connection even in low light and dark conditions.
  • Trailer Camera Package: Fleet operators can even opt for the trailer camera package when they get their Chevy Silverado rental vehicles. The Trailer Camera Package offers a comprehensive 270 degree view of the Silverado through the rear vision camera. This camera package system will allow fleet operators to make sure they have an eye on everything and are aware of any fishtailing and loose connection problems in a prompt manner. Rear facing cameras that are installed on the side view mirrors also allow the driver to have a good view on the sides of the trailer and the truck while changing lanes and while they are backing up. There is also the option of installing an additional camera on the trailer for a view from the trailer itself.
  • Trailer Brake Controller: The Chevy Silverado’s Advanced Trailer System also boasts an integrated trailer brake controller. After connecting a trailer, the driver can save it as a stored profile. This allows fleet operators to track the trailer mileage and provides reminders for maintenance among other convenient features. The integrated system allows the fleet operator to set specific brake settings based on the saved profile of the trailers. The brake gain memory makes a crucial part of the Advanced Trailer System.
  • Sway Control: One of the biggest issues for drivers towing trailers has been the trailer sway. This feature on the 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 has sensors on the truck that automatically applies tow vehicle brakes or dials back engine power whenever the trailer starts to sway. This system works in tandem with the integrated brake controller to help bring more stability to the trailer while in motion without causing too much worry for the driver.
  • Haul Mode: This mode on the 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 adjusts the shifting points for the transmission so that it can deliver the optimal power when it is needed. Whenever a trailer is detected by the system, it gives a reminder to the driver even if the driver forgets to engage the Haul Mode himself.
  • Auto Grade Braking: The Silverado is capable of detecting when a driver wants to slow the truck and trailer down to go up a steep decline. It automatically shifts down so that the brake wear is reduced while going down a decline.
  • Trailer Theft Alert: This system automatically turns on the horn and the lights on the truck if the harness which attaches the truck and trailer has been disconnected.
  • Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System: An optional feature which has wireless sensors that can be attached to the trailer tires which you can get with a Chevy Silverado. This helps drivers monitor tire pressure levels and any other possible problems right from the driver’s seat. The monitoring system also has temperature sensors which help prevent overheating blowouts in the trailer tires.

MyChevrolet Trailering App

Included with the purchase of the 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 is the myChevrolet app that offers a step-by-step checklist for your towing needs right in your smart phone. It also allows drivers to conduct trailer light tests to make sure that the trailer has been properly connected. This feature eliminates the need for a second person to check that the connection has been made properly. Additionally, the app allows the driver to track the mileage, transmission temperature and fuel economy while towing a trailer.

Elimination of Guesswork

The trucks under the domain of fleet managers have varying capabilities when it comes to hauling and towing. These capabilities can differ from truck to truck even when from the same manufacturer. Individually calculating them is a menial task for the fleet manager which is inconvenient.

Therefore the 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 comes with a trailering label. No more guesswork when determining the combined weight of the trailer and the truck. This is a completely new feature for the industry which is being introduced by Chevrolet through this new model and is placed on all of the new 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500’s door jambs on the driver’s side.
